1. Self-Sufficiency
If you want to do your own shopping, there are many small Chinese supermarkets. – There are slightly larger stores in Willemstad (e.g. “Centrum Markt” and “Carrefour”) and “California” in Tera Cora (near Coral Estate).
2. Restaurants
There are an incredible number of great restaurants on Curacao. The price level varies, of course, depending on the location and what is on offer. In general, prices for a meal for two are between 50 and 100 Euros (as of 2024).
It was hard to choose and we tried a wide range.
The exact addresses are easy to find via the Internet and route planning. Reservations in advance via the website/Instagram/Facebook are recommended.
Willemstad:

1. De Gouverneur
It’s a great place to sit in a historic building with a view of the harbor entrance and the fantastic Willemstad skyline. Everything from small snacks to a cup of coffee with cake and a delicious grilled dish (“Green Egg”) is available.
2. Mundo Bizarro
This cozy restaurant is located in the center of Willemstad (towards the floating markets). For fish lovers we recommend the tuna (“Tuna Sliders”).
3. Dal Toro
Eating a delicious pizza right by the sea in the evening, what more could you want?
Auf dem Weg nach Westen:

4. De Buurvrouw
Approximately 5 km after Willemstad you will find this great restaurant on the left hand side: here you sit in a round, open house covered with palm fronds. We recommend the “Salad Gamba’s” or a “Pincho ‘de Buurvrouw’”.
5. Williwood/Marfa´s
It is an absolute cult restaurant on the way to Coral Estate – opposite the Jan Kok salt pans. If you’re lucky, you can see the flamingos flying northwest from the salt pans around 7pm.
The “Williburger” (goat meat) is legendary. – There is live music twice a week (Wednesdays and Sundays). Then the menu consists of BBQ (Sundays) or fish/steaks (Wednesdays).
A little about the goat meat: The goat is one of the few livestock that has always been able to cope with the hilly terrain and the sparse food supply (lots of thorny, small-leaved bushes). For this reason, it is widespread on the island – and used as food.
6. Food Trucks
It is also an exciting experience to get food from a food truck: these trucks are on the side of the road and cannot be overlooked. You can get delicious chicken with yuca fries or plantains with garlic sauce. You’ll need to bring some time with you, though, as many locals and tourists realize they need something to eat around 7 p.m. and stop there on their way home.
