Attention: Currency conversion!

The currency of Curaçao is the Caribbean guilder (Cg), which was introduced on March 31, 2025. It is used in both Curaçao and Sint Maarten, and it has the same value as the former Dutch Antillean guilder (ANG). To ensure stability, the Caribbean guilder is pegged to the U.S. dollar at a fixed exchange rate of 1 USD = 1.79 Cg. For commercial transactions, however, the exchange rate is 1 USD = 1.82 Cg, similar to the former Dutch Antillean guilder. Also something new: traveling with airside

This summer (2025), we will test border control with Airside for the first time. Airside is an app that reads data from electronic passports and sends it to border control in Curaçao in an encrypted form (for EU and US citizens, for example). This should make the check at the special counter quick and easy. We will see and report back.
